By combining our unique backgrounds, experiences, and skills, we’ve discovered we can make an even greater impact together on the people we serve and this community we love.
Gregg: Real estate for me was like a door I opened on a whim and found out I didn’t want to close it. It all started when a friend, whose husband was ill, asked me to lend a hand with her small company. She said I’d just be referring a few friends, but before I knew it, I was fully involved. We ended up joining Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in Billings and Red Lodge, and I’ve been here ever since. One deal led to another, and before I knew it, it turned into a full-fledged passion.
My background is in medicine—I studied at Carroll College in Helena, then went on to Baylor University in Texas. From there, I served as a flight surgeon in the Air Force and spent 32 years as an anesthesiologist at the Women’s Hospital of Texas. Running a busy practice gave me financial and managerial experience and taught me how to help people through big decisions; all skills that translate directly into real estate.
I’ve traveled all over the world and have seen some really special places, but Montana always called me back. I bought my first ranch here more than 25 years ago. Red Lodge is the last town before the northeast entrance to Yellowstone, and while it can get busy with visitors for a few months, it has a picturesque, western downtown and still has that tight-knit feel. Being part of this community is just as important to me as real estate itself. I support the Boys and Girls Club, underwrote a new infusion center at the local hospital in memory of my late wife, am very active with the hospital foundation, and take part in everything from the farmers market to local fundraisers. In my free time, I love skiing in the winter, hosting dinners with friends, and spending time with my kids and grandkids.
Kaydn: When I moved from northern Utah to Red Lodge, Montana, I’d just left my job, was finishing my business degree online during COVID, and was ready for a change of pace. Gregg and I met through mutual friends, and after he convinced me to give skiing another shot, we grew to know each other well on the slopes. We became friends, and he offered me a place to stay.
At that point, I didn’t know what my future looked like. Growing up with strong family values and a middle-class mentality taught me the importance of doing things right, being dependable, and following through. In my early twenties, I spent five years at an engineering and manufacturing firm, moving between nearly every role in the company. That experience taught me how to adapt quickly, keep learning, and stay comfortable in constantly changing situations.
Friends within the industry, Gregg included, encouraged me to give real estate a try. I got licensed in 2023, started part-time while finishing my degree, and quickly discovered I loved the work. The mix of problem-solving, working with people, and helping clients find the right property completely changed the way I saw my future. My first year, I was named Rookie of the Year in the Billings MLS among more than 1,100 agents. It really symbolized to me that I was on the right track.
Real estate has become a career I genuinely love. It is entrepreneurial, challenging, and deeply rewarding because every success means helping someone take the next step in their life. I still make time to go back to Utah to see family and friends, but Red Lodge is where I’m planting roots, building a reputation, and creating a business we are both very proud of. With Gregg’s experience and my drive, we’ve got the foundation to grow into the go-to name in this market, and I’m excited to see just how far we can go!
